Death
Walter Elias Disney died December 15, 1966 from cancer at the age of 65. Whenever Walt Disney had a vision, he pursued it. Walt Disney once said, "If I can help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something." This place was California Institute of the Arts, a performing arts school established by Walt Disney a few years prior to his death, and to this day CalArts is still educating the young. Walt Disney was greatly appreciated with "more than 950 honors and citations from throughout the world, including 48 Academy Awards and 7 Emmys in his lifetime" (Walt Disney Archives, “Walt Disney biography”). Walt Disney was an inspirational and imaginative man, which even today continues to bring laughter and happiness into the lives of individuals around the world. The author from Walt Disney Archives believes that “through his work, he brought joy, happiness and a universal means of communication to the people of every nation. Certainly, our world shall know but one Walt Disney” (Walt Disney Archives, “Walt Disney biography”).
